The media pick up on all kinds of wacky trends that the beautiful people are undertaking to be, well, more beautiful. Drastic measures getting traction lately include juice fasting, eschewing entire food groups, cutting calories to 1,200 or fewer per day, drinking only special shakes, and even eating clay. When folks like you and I read and hear about these dramatic interventions, we tend to think (consciously or subconsciously) that they sound so dramatic, so drastic, there must be more than a grain of truth behind them. For many of these measures, there's little more than that grain.
Can you lose weight using a dramatic intervention? Absolutely.
But remember this: If it takes a drastic measure to lose pounds, it will take a drastic measure to keep them off.
Weight lost using one of these methods stay is very likely to return if you haven't created healthy habits. Skip the dramatic interventions and focus on building healthy habits that stick! If you focused on eating more healthfully, exercising regularly and getting decent sleep, you may not necessarily see rapid weight loss. But let's say that you began losing 2 pounds a month consistently--over a year, that would have you down 24 pounds! Choose healthy over drastic for long-term results.
