You've got a big goal. Maybe it's a weight loss goal. Maybe you want to run your first 5K this year, or your first marathon. Maybe it's eating healthier or getting to the gym X number of days per week.
Whatever the goal is, if you want to increase your likelihood of failure, keep it a secret.
You've got a quiet escape hatch to abandon your goal at any time.
On the other hand, if you want to increase your likelihood of achieving your health and wellness goals, shout them from the rooftops! Along with your intrinsic motivation, outside support and accountability are the two huge factors that lead to goal achievement.
Are there doubters or shamers in your life? Screw them. Find a cheerleader or two and lean on them.
Don't have anyone in your life who supports your healthy intentions? Find a new peer group:
- Join a running group
- Introduce yourself to the group fitness instructor leading your favorite class at the gym
- Sign up for a healthy cooking class
And of course, one of the best sources of support you can recruit is a health coach like yours truly. Not only am I able to provide you with education, tools and resources to support you in your quest, your goal is my priority, and I have your back 100%. I also hold you accountable: I won't let you give up without a fight.
I'm available for a consult in January for one-on-one coaching, and I'm launching an 8-week Goal Setting and Accountability Group program on January 28th, providing a built-in support network.
Now go get those goals!
